Method

Brownies

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.

  2. 2

    Melt Butter and Mix Sugars

In a medium saucepan, melt 1 cup of unsalted butter over low heat. Once melted, remove from heat and stir in 2 cups of granulated sugar and 1 cup of brown sugar until well combined.

  3. 3

    Add Eggs and Vanilla

Allow the mixture to cool slightly, then whisk in 4 large eggs, one at a time, followed by 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract.

  4. 4

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 1 cup of cocoa powder, and 1 teaspoon of salt.

  5. 5

    Mix Dry into Wet

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. Fold in 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips.

  6. 6

    Bake the Brownies

Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

  7. 7

    Cool the Brownies

Remove the brownies from the oven, allow them to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Salted Caramel Sauce

  1. 8

    Prepare Caramel

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, add 1 cup of granulated sugar. Stir constantly until the sugar melts and turns a deep amber color.

  2. 9

    Add Butter

Once the sugar has melted, carefully whisk in 6 tablespoons of unsalted butter until fully combined and smooth.

  3. 10

    Add Cream and Salt

Slowly drizzle in 1 cup of heavy cream while stirring. The mixture will bubble up. Continue to stir until fully incorporated. Remove from heat and stir in 1 teaspoon of sea salt.

  4. 11

    Cool the Sauce

Let the caramel sauce cool slightly before using. It can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.

Serving

  1. 12

    Serve the Brownies

Cut the cooled brownies into squares and place each square on a plate.

  2. 13

    Add Caramel and Ice Cream

Drizzle a generous amount of salted caramel sauce over each brownie and top with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream.
