Cooking Pasta

Boil the Pasta
In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the macaroni pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually around 8-10 minutes.

Drain the Pasta
Once the pasta is cooked, drain it in a colander and set aside.
Making Cheese Sauce

Add Flour
Whisk in the all-purpose flour and cook for about 1 minute to form a roux.

Add Milk
Gradually add the milk while whisking continuously to avoid lumps. Continue stirring until the mixture thickens, about 3-5 minutes.

Add Cheese and Seasoning
Remove the pot from heat and stir in the shredded white cheddar cheese, salt, and black pepper until the cheese is fully melted and the sauce is smooth.
Combining

Mix Pasta and Sauce
Add the drained macaroni to the cheese sauce and stir until the pasta is well coated.

Prepare for Topping
If using bread crumbs and extra cheese, transfer the mac and cheese to a baking dish, sprinkle the bread crumbs and additional cheese on top.

Bake
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the mac and cheese for about 15-20 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
Serving

Top the mac and cheese with your choice of brisket, pulled pork, jalapeno cheddar brat, or hot link before serving.
