Fried Pickles

Method

Fried Pickles

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pickles

Drain the dill pickles from the jar and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.

  2. 2

    Make the Batter

In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornmeal, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Egg Mixture

In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk until well combined.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Coat the Pickles

Dip each pickle slice into the egg mixture, allowing excess to drip off, and then dredge in the flour-cornmeal mixture until fully coated.

  6. 6

    Fry the Pickles

Carefully place the coated pickles into the hot oil in batches, frying for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve the fried pickles hot with the ranch dressing on the side.

Ranch Dressing

  1. 8

    Mix the Ingredients

In a medium bowl, combine the mayonnaise, sour cream, buttermilk, dried dill weed, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.

  2. 9

    Whisk Together

Use a whisk to mix everything together until smooth and creamy. Adjust seasoning to taste.

  3. 10

    Chill

Cover the ranch dressing and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
