Method

Patties

  1. 1

    Prepare the patties

In a bowl, mix the ground beef with salt and black pepper. Divide the mixture into two equal portions and form each portion into a patty, approximately 1/2 inch thick.

  2. 2

    Cook the patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness.

Fried Onions

  1. 3

    Slice the onions

Peel and slice the onion into thin rings.

  2. 4

    Coat the onions

In a bowl, toss the sliced onions with flour and salt until evenly coated.

  3. 5

    Fry the onions

In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully add the coated onion rings in batches and fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

Assembly

  1. 6

    Toast the buns

In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add the burger buns, cut side down, and toast until golden brown.

  2. 7

    Assemble the burger

Place a cooked patty on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Top with two slices of American cheese, followed by a generous portion of fried onions. Finally, place the top half of the bun on each burger.
