Preparation
Make the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. In a separate bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water and let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy. Add the yeast mixture and vegetable oil to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
Shape the Buns
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into equal pieces (about 10). Roll each piece into a ball, then flatten it out. Spoon about 1 tablespoon of the red bean filling into the center of each dough disc. Fold the edges over to seal and shape into a bun.
Steam the Buns
Place the buns on parchment paper squares in a steamer basket. Steam over boiling water for about 15-20 minutes, or until the buns are fluffy and cooked through.
Serve
Remove the buns from the steamer and let them cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your red bean paste buns warm!
