Preparation

  1. 1

    Marinate the Steak

In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, grated ginger, and cornstarch. Mix well. Add the steak, making sure it is fully coated in the marinade. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Vegetables

While the steak is marinating, chop the bell peppers into thin strips and slice the onion. Trim the string beans and set all the vegetables aside.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Grill the Steak

Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Remove the steak from the marinade (reserve the marinade) and grill for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness. Remove from heat and let rest for 5 minutes before slicing thinly against the grain.

  2. 4

    Make the Sauce

In a small saucepan, combine the reserved marinade with 2 tablespoons of water and bring to a simmer over medium heat. Stir until the mixture thickens slightly, then remove from heat and set aside.

  3. 5

    Stir-fry the Vegetables

In a large skillet or wok, heat the sesame oil over medium-high heat. Add the sliced onion and stir-fry for 2 minutes. Then add the bell peppers and string beans, and continue to stir-fry for another 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp.

  4. 6

    Combine Everything

Add the sliced steak to the stir-fried vegetables. Pour the thickened sauce over the mixture and toss everything together to coat well. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until heated through.

Serving

  1. 7

    Garnish and Serve

Transfer the Thai steak stir-fry to a serving platter. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds. Serve immediately.
