Method

Preparation of Noodles and Seafood

  1. 1

    Cook the Rice Noodles

In a pot of boiling water, add the rice noodles and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 4-6 minutes. Drain and rinse under cold water to stop cooking. Set aside.

  2. 2

    Prepare Shrimp and Imitation Crab

In a separate pan, bring a small amount of water to a boil. Add the shrimp and cook until they turn pink, about 2-3 minutes. Remove and set aside. Shred the imitation crab meat if not already shredded.

  3. 3

    Slice the Onion

Thinly slice the onion and set aside for garnish.

Preparing the Broth

  1. 4

    Simmer the Broth

In a large pot, combine the beef bone broth, sliced ginger, star anise, cloves, and cinnamon stick. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and let simmer for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

  2. 5

    Season the Broth

After simmering, add fish sauce and salt to taste. Adjust the seasoning as necessary.

Assembling the Pho

  1. 6

    Combine Ingredients

In a large serving bowl, place a portion of the cooked rice noodles. Add the cooked shrimp and shredded imitation crab meat on top.

  2. 7

    Ladle the Broth

Carefully ladle the hot broth over the noodles and seafood, ensuring everything is submerged.

Serving

  1. 8

    Add Garnishes

Serve the pho hot with bean sprouts, fresh basil leaves, sliced jalapeño, and lime wedges on the side. Allow each person to customize their bowl to their taste.
