Filling and Wontons

Method

Preparation and Cooking

  1. 1

    Prepare the Filling

In a mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, crab meat, chopped green onions, and garlic powder. Mix until well combined and smooth.

  2. 2

    Assemble the Wontons

Place a wonton wrapper on a clean surface. Spoon about 1 tablespoon of the crab filling into the center of the wrapper. Moisten the edges with water, fold the wrapper over to form a triangle, and press to seal. Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling.

  3. 3

    Fry the Wontons

In a large pot or deep skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, carefully add the wontons in batches, frying for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

  4. 4

Make the Sweet and Sour Sauce

In a small saucepan, combine 1/2 cup sugar, 1/3 cup vinegar, 1/4 cup ketchup, and 1 tablespoon soy sauce over medium heat. Stir until the sugar is dissolved and the sauce is heated through.

  5. 5

    Serve

Serve the hot Crab Rangoon with the sweet and sour sauce on the side for dipping.
