Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Melt the Chocolate

Chop the dark chocolate into small pieces and place them in a heatproof bowl.

  2. 2

    Heat the Cream

In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until just before boiling. Remove from heat.

  3. 3

    Combine Chocolate and Cream

Pour the hot cream over the chopped chocolate. Let it sit for 2-3 minutes to soften the chocolate.

  4. 4

    Stir Until Smooth

Whisk the mixture until the chocolate is fully melted and the mixture is smooth. Add the vanilla extract and sea salt, and mix well.

  5. 5

    Chill the Mixture

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for about 1-2 hours, or until the mixture is firm enough to scoop.

Forming the Truffles

  1. 6

    Scoop the Mixture

Once the chocolate mixture is firm, use a small cookie scoop or a teaspoon to scoop out portions of the mixture.

  2. 7

    Shape into Balls

Roll the scooped mixture between your palms to form small balls, about 1 inch in diameter.

  3. 8

    Coat with Cocoa Powder

Place the cocoa powder in a shallow dish. Roll each truffle ball in the cocoa powder until fully coated.

  4. 9

    Add Optional Garnishes

If desired, roll some truffles in chopped nuts, chocolate sprinkles, or shredded coconut for additional flavor and texture.

Storage

  1. 10

    Store the Truffles

Place the truffles in an airtight container and refrigerate. They can be enjoyed within a week.
