Sandwich Ingredients

Method

Steak Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

In a small bowl, mix together the smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Rub the mixture all over the beef strip steak.

  2. 2

    Sear the Steak

In a skillet over medium-high heat, add olive oil. Once hot, add the seasoned steak and sear for 4-5 minutes on each side until cooked to your desired doneness. Remove from heat and let rest for 5 minutes.

  3. 3

    Slice the Steak

After resting, slice the steak thinly against the grain.

Barbecue Sauce Preparation

  1. 4

    Combine Sauce Ingredients

In a saucepan, combine ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked liquid aminos, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.

  2. 5

    Simmer Sauce

Heat the saucepan over medium heat, stirring occasionally, and bring the mixture to a simmer. Let it simmer for about 10 minutes until slightly thickened.

  3. 6

    Blend Sauce (Optional)

For a smoother sauce, use an immersion blender to blend until smooth.

Assembly

  1. 7

    Prepare the Buns

Lightly toast the buns in a toaster or on a grill.

  2. 8

    Assemble the Sandwich

On the bottom half of each bun, layer the sliced steak, drizzle with barbecue sauce, and top with pickled jalapeños, coleslaw, and sliced pickles.

  3. 9

    Serve

Place the top half of the bun on the sandwich and serve immediately.
