Alcoholic Ingredients

Method

Horchata Preparation

  1. 1

    Soak the Rice

In a bowl, combine 1 cup of long grain white rice and 4 cups of water. Let it soak for at least 4 hours or overnight to soften the rice.

  2. 2

    Blend and Strain

After soaking, drain the rice and place it in a blender. Add the soaked water, 1 cinnamon stick, and 1 tsp of vanilla extract. Blend until smooth. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a large pitcher, discarding the solids.

  3. 3

    Sweeten the Mixture

Add 1 cup of sugar and 2 cups of milk to the strained liquid. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved. Chill in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

Assembly

  1. 4

    Prepare the Glasses

In a serving glass, pour 2 oz of dark rum and 1 oz of creme de cocoa at the bottom of the glass.

  2. 5

    Add Horchata

Slowly pour the prepared horchata base over the rum and creme de cocoa mixture, leaving some space at the top for ice cream and sorbet.

  3. 6

Top with Ice Cream and Sorbet

Add 2 scoops of cinnamon ice cream and 2 scoops of coconut sorbet on top of the horchata.

  4. 7

    Garnish and Serve

Optionally, garnish with a sprinkle of cinnamon or a cinnamon stick. Serve immediately and enjoy!
