Base Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, beat together the milk, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

  5. 5

    Pour into Pans

Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.

  6. 6

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  7. 7

    Cool Down

Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Frosting Preparation

  1. 8

    Beat Butter

In a large bowl, beat the softened unsalted butter with an electric mixer until creamy.

  2. 9

    Add Powdered Sugar

Gradually add the powdered sugar, mixing on low speed until well incorporated.

  3. 10

    Add Heavy Cream

Mix in the heavy cream, and continue to beat until the frosting is light and fluffy.

  4. 11

    Color the Frosting

Divide the frosting into separate bowls and add food coloring to each, mixing until you achieve your desired colors.

Assembly and Decoration

  1. 12

    Frost the Cakes

Place one cake layer on a serving plate and spread a layer of frosting on top. Place the second layer over it and frost the top and sides of the cake.

  2. 13

    Add Sprinkles

Decorate the frosted cake with sprinkles for a festive look.

  3. 14

    Add Edible Glitter

Sprinkle edible glitter on top of the cake for a disco effect.

  4. 15

    Top with Disco Ball

Finally, place the disco ball cake topper on the top to finish your Disco Apocalypse cake.
