Preparation Steps

  1. 1

    Make the Guinness BBQ Sauce

In a saucepan, combine the Guinness, ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, and cook for about 15-20 minutes until thickened. Set aside.

  2. 2

    Caramelize the Onions

Slice the onion and cook it in a skillet over medium heat with a bit of oil, stirring occasionally, until golden brown and caramelized, about 15-20 minutes.

  3. 3

    Cook the Bacon

In another skillet, cook the bacon until crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  4. 4

    Form and Cook the Burgers

Form the ground beef into 4 patties. Season with salt and pepper. Cook the patties on a grill or skillet over medium-high heat for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium doneness. Add a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each patty during the last minute of cooking to melt.

  5. 5

    Assemble the Burger

Toast the brioche buns lightly. Spread some Guinness BBQ sauce on the bottom half, add the burger patty with melted cheese, top with caramelized onions, bacon, and a fried onion ring. Finish with the top half of the bun.
