Method
Preparation of Oysters
- 1
Clean the Oysters
Rinse the fresh oysters under cold water to remove any sand or debris. Use a brush if necessary.
- 2
Shuck the Oysters
Using an oyster knife, carefully shuck each oyster, retaining as much of the oyster liquor as possible. Place the shucked oysters on a baking sheet.
- 3
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- 4
Prepare the Garlic Butter
In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic, sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, then add lemon juice and chopped parsley. Mix well and set aside.
Preparation of Crab Imperial
- 5
Mix the Crab Imperial
In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked crab meat, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, Old Bay seasoning, and beaten eggs. Mix gently until well combined.
- 6
Add Breadcrumbs
Fold in the breadcrumbs gently until the mixture is cohesive but not overworked.
Assembly and Baking
- 7
Top the Oysters
Spoon a generous amount of the crab imperial mixture onto each shucked oyster.
- 8
- 9
Sprinkle with Toppings
Sprinkle paprika and grated Parmesan cheese over the top of each oyster.
- 10
Bake the Oysters
Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for about 12-15 minutes or until the crab imperial is golden brown and bubbly.
- 11
Serve
Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving. Serve warm, garnished with additional parsley if desired.
