Cheese Preparation

Breading Mixture

Method

Cheese Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Cheese

Take the mozzarella cheese sticks and place them in the freezer for at least 30 minutes. This helps them hold their shape while frying.

Breading Mixture

  1. 2

    Set Up Breading Station

In three separate shallow bowls, set up your breading station. In the first bowl, place the all-purpose flour. In the second bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk. In the third bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, oregano, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.

  2. 3

    Bread the Cheese Sticks

Take each frozen mozzarella stick and roll it in the flour to coat evenly. Next, dip it into the egg mixture, letting any excess drip off, and then roll it in the breadcrumb mixture until completely coated. Repeat for all mozzarella sticks.

Frying

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep saucepan or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test the oil by dropping in a small piece of bread; if it bubbles and browns quickly, the oil is ready.

  2. 5

    Fry the Mozzarella Sticks

Carefully add a few breaded mozzarella sticks to the hot oil, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to remove them and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

  3. 6

    Serve

Serve the mozzarella sticks warm with marinara sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.
