Method

Steak Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

Rub each steak with olive oil, and season generously with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Allow the steaks to rest at room temperature for about 30 minutes.

  2. 2

    Cook the Steak

Preheat a grill or skillet over high heat. Once hot, add the steaks and sear for 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or longer depending on preferred doneness. During the last minute of cooking, add fresh rosemary or thyme to the skillet for added flavor.

  3. 3

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steaks from the heat and let them rest for about 5-10 minutes before serving. This allows the juices to redistribute.

Crabcake Preparation

  1. 4

    Mix Crabcake Ingredients

In a large bowl, gently combine lump crab meat, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, Old Bay seasoning, breadcrumbs, egg, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper until just mixed. Be careful not to break up the crab meat too much.

  2. 5

    Form Crabcakes

Shape the mixture into patties, about 1 inch thick. This recipe should yield about 4 crabcakes.

  3. 6

    Cook the Crabcakes

Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the crabcakes and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and heated through.

  4. 7

    Serve

Place the cooked crabcakes on a plate alongside the rested steak. Enjoy your Captain Maria's Steak & Cake!
