Fill a large pot with water and add 1 tablespoon of salt. Bring to a boil over high heat.

Cook Pasta
Once the water is boiling, add the fettuccine pasta. Cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.

Drain Pasta
Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta cooking water, then drain the pasta in a colander.
Alfredo Sauce Preparation

Melt Butter
In a large skillet over medium heat, melt 1 cup of unsalted butter.

Add Cream and Garlic
Once the butter is melted, add 2 cups of heavy cream and 3 teaspoons of minced garlic to the skillet. Stir well to combine.

Let the mixture simmer for about 5-6 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it slightly thickens.

Add Cheese and Seasoning
Stir in 1 cup of grated Parmesan cheese, 1 teaspoon of black pepper, and 1 teaspoon of ground nutmeg. Mix until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth. Season with salt to taste.

Add the drained fettuccine pasta to the skillet with the Alfredo sauce. Toss to coat the pasta evenly with the sauce. If the sauce is too thick, add a bit of the reserved pasta cooking water to reach desired consistency.
