Method
Prepare the Filling
- 1
Mix the Ingredients
In a mixing bowl, combine the canned tuna, cream cheese, finely chopped red onion, dill pickle, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly combined and the mixture is smooth.
Assemble the Cigar
- 2
Prepare the Wrappers
Lay out a spring roll wrapper on a clean surface with one corner pointing towards you. If using frozen wrappers, ensure they are thawed and pliable.
- 3
Add the Filling
Spoon about 2 tablespoons of the tuna filling onto the wrapper, about 1 inch from the bottom corner.
- 4
Roll the Wrapper
Fold the bottom corner over the filling, then fold in the sides. Roll tightly upwards to form a cigar shape. Use a little beaten egg to seal the edge of the wrapper.
- 5
Repeat
Repeat the process with the remaining wrappers and filling until all are filled and rolled.
Fry the Cigar
- 6
Heat the Oil
In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 7
Fry the Cigar
Carefully add the rolled tuna cigars to the hot oil, frying in batches if necessary. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.
- 8
Drain and Serve
Once fried, remove the cigars from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.
