Method

Preparation

1

Make the Cajun Spice Mix

In a small bowl, combine paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, dried oregano, dried thyme, black pepper, and salt. Mix well and set aside.

2

Prepare the Salmon

Pat the salmon fillets dry with a paper towel. Drizzle olive oil and lemon juice over the fillets on both sides. Then, generously coat each fillet with the Cajun spice mix, ensuring they are evenly covered.

Cooking

3

Heat the Pan

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Allow it to get hot, which will help create a nice sear on the salmon.

4

Cook the Salmon

Once the skillet is hot, place the seasoned salmon fillets skin-side down (if skin-on) in the pan. Cook for about 4-5 minutes without moving them, allowing the spices to blacken and the fish to cook through. Flip and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes on the other side until cooked to your liking.

5

Serve

Remove the salmon from the skillet and let it rest for a couple of minutes. Serve hot with your choice of side dishes.
