Cake Ingredients

Method

Cake Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 2

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

  3. 3

    Cream Butter and Sugar

In another bowl, cream the unsalted butter until smooth. Gradually add the sugar and continue to beat until light and fluffy.

  4. 4

    Add Eggs and Vanilla

Add the eggs one at a time to the butter mixture, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

  5. 5

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, alternating with milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.

  6. 6

    Bake the Cake

Pour the cake batter into a greased 9x13 inch baking pan. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  7. 7

    Cool the Cake

Once baked, remove from the oven and let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

  8. 8

    Prepare Creamy Top Layer

For the creamy layer, whisk together 1 cup of heavy cream, 1/4 cup of powdered sugar, and 1 tsp of vanilla extract until soft peaks form.

  9. 9

    Assemble the Cake

Spread the creamy top layer evenly over the cooled cake. You can decorate it with chocolate shavings or fruit if desired.
