Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Preparation

Remove the tomahawk steak from the refrigerator and let it come to room temperature for about 1 hour before cooking.

  2. 2

    Seasoning

In a small bowl, mix together the kosher salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika. Rub the steak with olive oil and then generously coat it with the seasoning mix on all sides.

  3. 3

    Preheat Grill

Preheat your grill to high heat (about 450°F to 500°F).

  4. 4

    Searing the Steak

Place the steak on the grill and sear for 4-5 minutes on each side until a crust forms.

  5. 5

    Cooking to Desired Doneness

Move the steak to a cooler part of the grill and continue cooking, flipping occasionally, until it reaches the desired internal temperature (125°F for rare, 135°F for medium-rare, 145°F for medium). This may take an additional 20-30 minutes.

  6. 6

    Resting

Remove the steak from the grill and let it rest for at least 10-15 minutes, tented with foil.

  7. 7

    Serving

Slice between the rib bones and serve with fresh rosemary and thyme sprigs for garnish.
