Preparation

Cake Preparation

1. Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease three 9-inch round cake pans.

2. Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

3. Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, mix the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract until well combined.

4. Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Then stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth.

5. Bake the Layers

Divide the batter evenly among the prepared cake pans and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

6. Cool the Layers

Remove the cakes from the oven and allow them to cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then, transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Ganache Preparation

7. Heat the Cream

In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it just starts to simmer.

8. Melt the Chocolate

Place the chocolate chips in a heatproof bowl. Pour the hot cream over the chocolate and let it sit for a few minutes.

9. Combine Ganache

Stir the mixture until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth. Allow it to cool to room temperature.

Frosting Preparation

10. Beat the Butter

In a mixing bowl, beat the unsalted butter until creamy.

11. Add Cocoa and Sugar

Gradually add the cocoa powder and powdered sugar, mixing until combined.

12. Add Vanilla and Milk

Add the vanilla extract and milk, beating until the frosting is fluffy and spreadable.

Assemble the Cake

13. Layer the Cakes

Place one cake layer on a serving platter and spread a layer of chocolate ganache over it.

14. Repeat Layers

Top with the second layer of cake and spread more ganache. Then, add the final layer of cake.

15. Frost the Cake

Spread the chocolate frosting evenly over the top and sides of the cake.

16. Garnish

If desired, decorate the top with chocolate shavings or sprinkles.
