Method

Cooking Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a large pot, bring 4 quarts of water to a rolling boil. Add 1 tablespoon of salt to the water.

  2. 2

    Cook Spaghetti

Add 8 ounces of spaghetti to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions until al dente, about 8-10 minutes.

  3. 3

    Drain Pasta

Once cooked, drain the spaghetti in a colander and set aside.

Making Sauce

  1. 4

    Sauté Onion and Garlic

In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add 1 chopped medium onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add minced garlic and sauté for another minute.

  2. 5

    Cook Ground Beef

Add 1 pound of ground beef to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 6-8 minutes.

  3. 6

    Add Marinara Sauce

Stir in 2 cups of marinara sauce, 1 teaspoon of Italian seasoning, 0.5 teaspoon of salt, and 0.5 teaspoon of black pepper. Let simmer for 10 minutes.

Preparing Garlic Bread

  1. 7

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. 8

    Prepare Bread

Slice the French bread loaf in half lengthwise. In a small bowl, mix together 4 tablespoons of softened butter, 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, and 1 tablespoon of chopped parsley.

  3. 9

    Spread Butter

Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over the cut sides of the bread. Place on a baking sheet.

  4. 10

    Bake Bread

Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes until golden and crispy.

Serving

  1. 11

    Combine and Serve

Serve the cooked spaghetti topped with the meat or marinara sauce. Accompany with 2 slices of garlic bread. Add any desired toppings such as sautéed mushrooms, grilled chicken, sausage links, or meatballs.
