Pasta

Method

Cooking Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a large pot, bring 4 quarts of water to a rolling boil. Add 1 tablespoon of salt.

  2. 2

    Cook Pasta

Add the mostaccioli pasta to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions, usually about 10-12 minutes, until al dente.

  3. 3

    Drain Pasta

Once cooked, drain the pasta in a colander and set aside.

Preparing Sauce

  1. 4

    Cook Ground Beef

In a skillet over medium heat, add ground beef and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.

  2. 5

    Sauté Vegetables

Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet with the ground beef, cooking until onions are translucent, about 3-4 minutes.

  3. 6

    Add Tomatoes and Seasoning

Stir in crushed tomatoes and Italian seasoning. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Let the sauce simmer for 15-20 minutes.

Making Garlic Bread

  1. 7

    Prepare Garlic Butter

In a bowl, mix softened butter with garlic powder and chopped parsley until well combined.

  2. 8

    Spread on Bread

Spread the garlic butter mixture on each slice of French bread.

  3. 9

    Toast Bread

Place the bread on a baking sheet and toast in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for about 10 minutes, or until golden brown.

Assembling the Dish

  1. 10

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

In a large mixing bowl, toss the drained mostaccioli with the marinara or meat sauce until well coated.

  2. 11

    Serve

Plate the mostaccioli, top with your choice of additional toppings (sautéed mushrooms, grilled chicken, sausage links, or meatballs), and serve with garlic bread on the side.
