Meatballs

Method

Prepare Meatballs

  1. 1

    Mix Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined.

  2. 2

    Form Meatballs

Shape the mixture into approximately 1-inch meatballs and place them on a baking sheet.

  3. 3

    Bake Meatballs

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake the meatballs for 20 minutes or until cooked through.

Prepare Meat Sauce

  1. 4

    Sauté Aromatics

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and minced garlic and sauté until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.

  2. 5

    Add Tomatoes

Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer.

  3. 6

    Add Meatballs

Once the meatballs are baked, add them to the sauce and let them simmer for an additional 10 minutes.

Assemble Sub

  1. 7

    Prepare Sub Rolls

Slice each sub roll lengthwise, leaving one side attached to create a hinge.

  2. 8

    Fill Sub Rolls

Spoon a generous amount of meatballs and sauce into each sub roll.

  3. 9

    Top with Cheese

Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the meatballs in each sub.

  4. 10

    Melt Cheese

Place the assembled subs under the broiler for 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
