Chicken Strips

Method

Prepare Chicken

  1. 1

    Slice the Chicken

Cut the boneless, skinless chicken breasts into strips, about 1 inch wide.

  2. 2

    Season the Chicken

In a bowl, season the chicken strips with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix well until the chicken is coated.

  3. 3

    Prepare Breading Stations

Set up three shallow dishes: one with all-purpose flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs mixed with grated Parmesan cheese.

  4. 4

    Bread the Chicken

Dredge each chicken strip first in flour, then dip in the beaten eggs, and finally coat with the breadcrumb mixture.

Cook Chicken

  1. 5

    Heat Oil

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.

  2. 6

    Cook Chicken Strips

Add the breaded chicken strips to the skillet in a single layer. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through.

Make Marinara Sauce

  1. 7

    Sauté Garlic

In a saucepan, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.

  2. 8

    Add Tomatoes and Season

Pour in the crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Stir to combine and let the sauce simmer for about 10 minutes.

Assemble and Serve

  1. 9

    Layer the Chicken and Sauce

Once the chicken strips are cooked, place them on a plate. Spoon marinara sauce over the chicken.

  2. 10

    Add Cheese

Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese on top of the sauce-covered chicken.

  3. 11

    Melt the Cheese

If desired, place the plate in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 5 minutes to melt the cheese.

  4. 12

    Garnish and Serve

Garnish with fresh chopped basil if desired and serve immediately.
