Pasta

Method

Prepare Pasta

  1. 1

    Cook the Manicotti Shells

In a large pot, bring the water to a boil. Add salt to the boiling water.

  2. 2

    Boil the Manicotti

Carefully add the manicotti shells to the pot and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.

  3. 3

    Drain and Cool

Once cooked, drain the shells and rinse with cold water to stop the cooking process. Set aside to cool.

Make the Filling

  1. 4

    Combine Filling Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, shredded mozzarella cheese, grated Parmesan cheese, egg, chopped parsley, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

  2. 5

    Fill the Manicotti

Using a spoon or a piping bag, carefully fill each manicotti shell with the cheese filling. Set aside filled shells.

Prepare the Sauce

  1. 6

    Mix Marinara Sauce

In a separate bowl, combine the marinara sauce with dried oregano and dried basil. Stir well.

Assemble and Bake

  1. 7

    Layer the Dish

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). In a large baking dish, spread a layer of the marinara sauce on the bottom.

  2. 8

    Place the Manicotti

Arrange the filled manicotti shells in a single layer over the sauce. Pour the remaining marinara sauce over the top of the shells.

  3. 9

    Add Toppings

Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese and grated Parmesan cheese over the top of the sauced manicotti.

  4. 10

    Bake

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

  5. 11

    Cool and Serve

Remove from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm.
