Method

Preparation of Lasagna

  1. 1

    Cook Lasagna Noodles

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the lasagna noodles and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Making the Meat Sauce

  1. 2

    Brown the Meat

In a large skillet over medium heat, combine ground beef and Italian sausage. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula.

  2. 3

    Add Vegetables

Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté for about 5 minutes until the onion is translucent.

  3. 4

    Combine Sauce Ingredients

Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer and reduce heat to low. Cook for 20 minutes.

Preparing the Cheese Mixture

  1. 5

    Mix Cheese Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine ricotta cheese, eggs, grated Parmesan cheese, and chopped parsley. Mix well until smooth.

Assembling the Lasagna

  1. 6

    Layer Ingredients

In a large baking dish, spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom. Place 3 lasagna noodles on top. Spread half of the cheese mixture over the noodles, followed by a layer of meat sauce, and then another 3 noodles. Repeat the layering process, ending with noodles and a final layer of meat sauce.

  2. 7

    Add Topping

Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the top of the final layer of meat sauce.

Baking

  1. 8

    Bake the Lasagna

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

Serving
