Salad Base

Method

Salad Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Lettuce

Wash the leaf lettuce thoroughly under cold running water. Spin dry in a salad spinner or pat dry with a clean kitchen towel. Tear the leaves into bite-sized pieces and place them in a large salad bowl.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Vegetables

Slice the cherry tomatoes in half and add to the salad bowl. Peel the cucumber, slice it in half lengthwise, and then cut it into half-moon shapes. Add the cucumber slices to the salad.

  3. 3

    Add Other Ingredients

Include the imported olives, pickled eggplant, and cherry peppers into the salad bowl. Toss the ingredients gently to combine.

Dressing Preparation

  1. 4

    Make the Italian Dressing

In a small bowl or jar, combine the olive oil, red wine vinegar, Dijon mustard, minced garlic, dried oregano, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Whisk or shake well until the dressing is fully emulsified and smooth.

  2. 5

    Dress the Salad

Drizzle the homemade Italian dressing over the salad just before serving. Toss the salad gently to ensure all ingredients are coated with the dressing.
