Method
Dough Preparation
- 1
Activate Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- 2
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt.
- 3
Combine Ingredients
Once the yeast is activated, add it to the flour mixture along with olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.
- 4
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 5
Let the Dough Rise
Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
Pizza Assembly
- 6
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat up.
- 7
Shape the Dough
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a floured surface. Roll it out into a 10-inch circle.
- 8
Add Sauce
Transfer the rolled-out dough to a pizza peel or baking sheet. Spread tomato sauce evenly over the base, leaving a small border around the edges.
- 9
- 10
Bake the Pizza
Carefully transfer the pizza to the preheated oven (or onto the hot pizza stone) and bake for 10-15 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbling.
- 11
Slice and Serve
Remove the pizza from the oven, allow it to cool for a minute, slice into wedges, and serve hot.
