Dough and Toppings

Method

Preparation and Cooking

  1. 1

    Make the Dough

In a bowl, combine warm water and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth. Place in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Meat Sauce

In a skillet, heat some oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and minced garlic, sauté until translucent. Add ground beef and cook until browned. Stir in crushed tomatoes and oregano. Simmer for about 15 minutes, then set aside.

  3. 3

    Shape the Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into small balls (about the size of a fist). Flatten each ball into a disc shape.

  4. 4

    Assemble the Pizza

On each disc of dough, add a generous spoonful of meat sauce and sprinkle with mozzarella cheese and any additional toppings you desire.

  5. 5

    Fry the Pizza

Heat vegetable oil in a large pot or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C). Carefully add the assembled pizzas, a few at a time, and fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.

  6. 6

    Serve

Cut the fried pizzas into wedges and serve hot with additional toppings or dipping sauces as desired.
