Fried Calamari Ingredients
Method
Fried Calamari Directions
- 1
Prepare the Coating
In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to ensure an even distribution of spices.
- 2
Coat the Calamari
Add the cleaned squid rings to the bowl with the flour mixture. Toss well to ensure all the calamari are evenly coated. Shake off any excess flour.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a deep pot or fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test the oil by dropping a small amount of the flour mixture in; if it sizzles, the oil is ready.
- 4
Fry the Calamari
Carefully add the coated calamari in small batches to the hot oil. Fry for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Avoid overcrowding the pan.
