Brewing Process
- 1
Mashing
In a large brew kettle, heat 5 gallons of water to approximately 160°F (71°C). Add 2 cups of barley malt and stir well. Maintain the temperature for about 60 minutes.
- 2
Boiling
After mashing, bring the mixture to a boil and add 1 cup of hops. Boil for 60 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 3
Cooling
After boiling, cool the wort quickly using a wort chiller or an ice bath until it reaches around 70°F (21°C).
- 4
Fermentation
Transfer the cooled wort to a sanitized fermentation vessel and add the yeast. Seal the vessel with an airlock and let it ferment at room temperature for about 1-2 weeks.
- 5
Bottling
Once fermentation is complete, dissolve 3 oz of priming sugar in a small amount of water and add it to the beer. Bottle the beer using sanitized bottles and caps.
- 6
Conditioning
Let the bottles sit at room temperature for another 1-2 weeks to carbonate before refrigerating and serving.
