Tater Tots Ingredients

Method

Preparation Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Peel and dice the russet potatoes into small pieces. Boil them in salted water until fork-tender, about 10-15 minutes. Drain and let them cool.

  2. 2

    Mash and Mix

Once cooled, mash the potatoes in a large bowl. Add flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder to the mashed potatoes. Mix until well combined.

  3. 3

    Shape the Tots

Take small portions of the potato mixture and shape them into small cylindrical forms, about the size of a traditional tater tot.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Fry the Tots

Carefully add the shaped tater tots to the hot oil, frying them in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
