Prepare the Strawberries
Wash and slice the fresh strawberries. In a bowl, mix the sliced strawberries with granulated sugar and let them sit for about 10 minutes to release their juices.

Cut the vanilla sponge cake into cubes or slices. In serving bowls, layer the sponge cake pieces at the bottom, followed by a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Spoon the macerated strawberries over the ice cream and sponge cake.
