Method
Brewing Process
- 1
Mashing
In a large mash tun, combine the malted barley and rice with 20 liters of heated water. Maintain the temperature at around 65°C (149°F) for 60 minutes, allowing the starches to convert to sugars.
- 2
Lautering
After mashing, transfer the mixture to a lauter tun to separate the liquid wort from the solid grain. Rinse the grains with additional heated water to extract as much sugar as possible.
- 3
Boiling
Bring the wort to a boil and add hops. Boil for 60 minutes, stirring occasionally. This step is crucial for extracting the bitterness and aroma from the hops.
- 4
Cooling
After boiling, cool the wort quickly using a wort chiller or ice bath until it reaches around 18-20°C (64-68°F).
- 5
Fermentation
Transfer the cooled wort to a fermentation vessel and add the lager yeast. Seal the vessel and allow it to ferment at a stable temperature of around 10-12°C (50-54°F) for 2 weeks.
- 6
Conditioning
After fermentation, transfer the beer to a conditioning tank or keg. Allow it to condition for another 1-2 weeks to develop flavor and carbonation.
- 7
Packaging
Finally, package the beer into bottles or kegs and refrigerate before serving.
