Ingredients for Mac & Cheese Balls

Method

Directions for Making Mac & Cheese Balls

  1. 1

    Cook the Macaroni

In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the macaroni according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  2. 2

    Make the Cheese Sauce

In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Stir in flour and cook for about 1 minute. Gradually whisk in milk and cook until the mixture thickens. Add shredded cheddar cheese, salt, and black pepper. Stir until cheese is melted and smooth.

  3. 3

    Combine and Chill

Mix the cooked macaroni into the cheese sauce until well combined. Spread the mixture into a baking dish and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until firm.

  4. 4

    Form the Balls

Once chilled, scoop out a portion of the mac and cheese mixture and roll into balls, about 1 inch in diameter.

  5. 5

    Prepare for Frying

Beat the eggs in a bowl. Set up a breading station with one bowl of breadcrumbs and another bowl with the beaten eggs.

  6. 6

    Bread the Balls

Dip each mac and cheese ball into the egg, then roll in breadcrumbs to coat completely.

  7. 7

    Fry the Balls

In a deep pot or fryer, heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry the mac and cheese balls in batches until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes. Drain on paper towels.

  8. 8

    Prepare the Sauce

In a small bowl, mix together ranch dressing, honey, and sriracha sauce until well combined.

  9. 9

    Serve

Serve the mac and cheese balls hot with ranch and honey sriracha dipping sauce on the side.
