Brewing Directions

  1. 1

    Mashing

In a large brew kettle, heat the water to approximately 70°C (158°F). Add the barley malt and corn syrup, stirring well to combine. Maintain the temperature for about 60 minutes to allow the starches to convert to sugars.

  2. 2

    Boiling

After mashing, bring the mixture to a boil. Add the hops and boil for 60 minutes, stirring occasionally. This will impart bitterness and aroma to the beer.

  3. 3

    Cooling

Once the boiling is complete, cool the wort quickly using a wort chiller or by placing the pot in an ice bath until it reaches around 20°C (68°F).

  4. 4

    Fermentation

Transfer the cooled wort to a fermentation vessel, add the yeast, and seal with an airlock. Allow it to ferment for about 1-2 weeks at a stable temperature between 18-22°C (64-72°F).

  5. 5

    Bottling

After fermentation is complete, siphon the beer into bottles, adding a small amount of priming sugar to each bottle to carbonate. Seal the bottles and let them condition for another 1-2 weeks.

  6. 6

    Enjoy

Once conditioned, chill the bottles and enjoy your homemade Labatt Blue Light responsibly!
