Bourbon Ingredients
Method
Bourbon Making Process
- 1
Mashing
Combine the corn, rye, malted barley, and applewood smoked wheat in a large mash tun. Add hot water and stir to create a mash. Maintain a temperature of 150°F (65°C) for about 1 hour.
- 2
Cooling and Fermentation
After mashing, cool the mixture to around 70°F (21°C). Add the yeast and let it ferment for about 5-7 days until fermentation is complete.
- 3
Distillation
Transfer the fermented mash to a still and distill the liquid. Collect the distillate, which is now raw whiskey.
- 4
Aging
Place the distillate into charred oak barrels and age for at least 2 years. The longer the aging, the more complex the flavors will become.
- 5
Bottling
Once aged to your preference, bottle the bourbon and label it as Iron Smoke Smoked Bourbon Whiskey. Enjoy responsibly.
