Giant Pretzel
Method
Preparation
- 1
Make the Pretzel Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy. Add salt and flour gradually, mixing until a dough forms.
- 2
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
- 3
Shape the Pretzel
Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C). Punch down the dough and divide it into 4 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a long rope and shape it into a pretzel.
- 4
Boil the Pretzels
In a large pot, bring 10 cups of water to a boil and add baking soda. Boil each pretzel for about 30 seconds, then remove and place on a greased baking sheet.
- 5
- 6
Prepare the Queso
In a saucepan over medium heat, combine cream cheese and milk, stirring until melted. Add shredded cheddar cheese, jalapeño, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Cook until everything is melted and creamy.
- 7
Serve
Serve the giant pretzel warm with the queso cheese dip on the side.
