For the Beef Patty

For the Toppings

For the Burger Assembly

Method

Cooking the Beef Patty

  1. 1

    Prepare the Beef

In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently until just combined. Avoid overmixing to ensure a tender patty.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape them into round patties, about ¾ inch thick. Use your thumb to make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent it from puffing up during cooking.

  3. 3

    Cook the Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip them and cook for another 3-4 minutes for medium doneness. Place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty during the last minute of cooking to melt.

Preparing the Toppings

  1. 4

    Prepare the Vegetables

Wash the lettuce leaves thoroughly and pat them dry. Slice the tomato into thick rounds. Set the lettuce and tomato aside for assembly.

  2. 5

    Prepare the Pickles

If using whole pickles, slice them into rounds. Set aside.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 6

    Toast the Buns

Optional: Toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

  2. 7

    Build the Burger

On the bottom half of each bun, spread ketchup and mustard to taste. Place the cooked patty with melted cheese on top, followed by the lettuce, tomato slice, and pickles. Top with the other half of the bun.

  3. 8

    Serve

Serve immediately while hot with your favorite side dishes.
