Coffee & Water

Method

Brewed Lavazza (drip or pour-over)

  1. 1

    Measure coffee

Measure 2 tablespoons of Lavazza ground coffee per 12 oz of water. Adjust to taste if you prefer weaker or stronger coffee.

  2. 2

    Heat water

Heat fresh cold water to 195–205°F (just off boil). For manual pour-over, bring to a boil and let sit 30 seconds. For automatic drip, use the machine's reservoir.

  3. 3

    Prepare equipment

Place a filter in the dripper or machine, rinse it with hot water to remove paper taste and preheat the vessel, then discard the rinse water.

  4. 4

    Add coffee and brew

Add the measured Lavazza coffee to the filter. For pour-over: bloom with about twice the coffee weight in water for 30–45 seconds, then pour remaining water slowly in concentric circles until you reach 12 oz. For drip: start the machine and let it brew fully.

  5. 5

    Serve

Remove the dripper or carafe, give the coffee a gentle swirl to homogenize, and pour into a pre-warmed mug. Add sugar to taste if desired.

Espresso-style (if using an espresso machine)

  1. 6

    Dose and tamp

Use finely ground Lavazza coffee. Dose 18–20 g for a double shot (or about 1 level tablespoon per shot if using a stovetop Moka). Distribute evenly in the portafilter and tamp firmly and level.

  2. 7

    Brew

Lock the portafilter into the machine and start extraction. Aim for 25–30 seconds for a double shot (yield ~36–40 g). Stop the shot when timing/volume is reached.

  3. 8

    Serve or steam milk

Pour the espresso into a pre-warmed cup. If making a latte or cappuccino, steam 4 oz milk: submerge steam wand tip just below surface to create microfoam for 3–6 seconds, then fully steam to 140–150°F (60–65°C). Swirl milk to integrate foam and pour over espresso.

  4. 9

    Finish

Sweeten with sugar if desired and dust with cocoa or cinnamon (about 1/4 tsp) for garnish.

Stovetop Moka Pot

  1. 10

    Add water and coffee

Fill the lower chamber with hot water up to the safety valve. Fill the filter basket with Lavazza finely ground coffee without tamping; level the grounds.

  2. 11

    Assemble and heat

Assemble the pot securely. Place on medium-low heat and leave the lid open to monitor. When coffee begins to flow into the upper chamber, reduce heat to low to avoid sputtering.

  3. 12

    Remove and serve

When the upper chamber is full and you hear a gurgle, remove from heat. Stir the brewed coffee in the upper chamber once to even flavor, then pour into cups. Add milk or sugar as desired.
