Ingredients
Cocktail
Optional: Sparkling Finish
Cocktail
1. Prepare glass
Chill a coupe or small cocktail glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes, or fill it with ice water while you prepare the cocktail.
2. Mix
In a mixing glass or shaker filled with ice, add 2 tablespoons Grand Marnier, 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed orange juice, 1/2 teaspoon fresh lemon juice, and 1/4 teaspoon simple syrup. Stir briskly for about 15–20 seconds to thoroughly chill and lightly dilute the mixture.
3. Strain
Discard the ice or water from the chilled serving glass. Double-strain the mixture into the chilled glass using a Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh strainer to remove ice shards and pulp.
4. Finish and garnish
Optional: top with 2 tablespoons chilled Champagne or sparkling wine for a brighter, celebratory finish. Express an orange twist over the drink (twist skin downward to release oils), wipe the rim with the peel if desired, and drop the twist into the glass as garnish.
