Dough and Filling
Method
Preparation and Baking
- 1
Prepare the Dough
In a small saucepan, heat milk until warm (not hot). Remove from heat and add yeast and a teaspoon of sugar. Let sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy. In a large bowl, combine flour, remaining sugar, and salt. In another bowl, mix melted butter, eggs, and the yeast mixture. Combine wet and dry ingredients, knead until smooth, and let rise for 1 hour.
- 2
Prepare the Filling
In a small bowl, mix brown sugar, cinnamon, and chopped pecans. Once the dough has risen, roll it out into a rectangle. Spread melted butter over the dough, then sprinkle the cinnamon mixture evenly.
- 3
Form the Buns
Starting from one edge, roll the dough tightly into a log. Cut into 12 equal pieces and place in a greased baking dish. Let rise for another 30 minutes.
- 4
Prepare the Bourbon Sauce
In a saucepan, combine 1/2 cup melted butter, 1 cup brown sugar, and 1/4 cup bourbon. Cook over medium heat until sugar is dissolved and mixture is smooth.
- 5
Bake the Buns
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Pour the bourbon sauce over the risen buns. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
