Meat Mixture

For Grilling

Side Dish (optional)

Method

Preparation of Meat Mixture

  1. 1

    Combine Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef and ground lamb. Add the finely grated onion, minced garlic, and chopped parsley. Mix well.

  2. 2

    Season the Mixture

Add cinnamon, allspice, salt, and black pepper to the meat mixture. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly distributed.

  3. 3

    Add Pine Nuts

Gently fold in the toasted pine nuts into the meat mixture.

  4. 4

    Shape the Kafta

Divide the mixture into equal portions (about 100 grams each) and shape them into oval patties or onto skewers.

Grilling

  1. 5

    Prepare Skewers

If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for at least 30 minutes to prevent burning. If using metal skewers, no soaking is needed.

  2. 6

    Preheat Grill

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Brush the grill grates with olive oil to prevent sticking.

  3. 7

    Skewer the Kafta

Carefully thread the shaped kafta onto the skewers, ensuring they are secure.

  4. 8

    Grill the Kafta

Place the skewers on the preheated grill. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until the internal temperature reaches 70°C (160°F) and they are nicely browned.

  5. 9

    Rest the Kafta

Once cooked, remove the skewers from the grill and allow the kafta to rest for a few minutes before serving.

Serving

  1. 10

    Plate the Dish

Serve the shish kafta on a platter. Optionally, serve with warm pita bread, hummus, and tzatziki sauce on the side.
