Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Ingredients
Drain and rinse the canned chickpeas under cold water. If you prefer a smoother hummus, you can peel the chickpeas, but this is optional.
- 2
Combine Ingredients
In a food processor, combine the drained chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, garlic cloves, olive oil, ground cumin, and salt.
- 3
Blend Until Smooth
Process the mixture for about 1-2 minutes until it becomes a smooth paste. If the hummus is too thick, gradually add water, one tablespoon at a time, until you reach the desired consistency.
Serving
- 4
Transfer to Serving Dish
Spoon the hummus into a serving bowl and smooth the top with the back of a spoon.
- 5
Garnish
Drizzle a little olive oil on top, and sprinkle with paprika and chopped fresh parsley for garnish.
- 6
Serve with Pita
Cut pita bread into triangles and serve alongside the hummus.
