Main Ingredients

Method

Marinate the Beef

  1. 1

    Prepare the Marinade

In a bowl, combine minced garlic, ground cumin, ground coriander, paprika, turmeric, cinnamon, salt, black pepper, olive oil, and lemon juice. Mix thoroughly.

  2. 2

    Marinate the Beef

Slice the beef into thin strips and add it to the marinade. Ensure all pieces are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight for better flavor.

Cook the Beef

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Skillet

Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. If using a skillet, add a little olive oil to prevent sticking.

  2. 4

    Cook the Beef

Remove the beef from the marinade and cook in batches, searing for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until cooked to your liking. Remove from heat and let rest for a few minutes before slicing into smaller pieces.

Prepare Rice or Hummus

  1. 5

    Cook the Rice (if using)

Prepare the rice according to package instructions. Fluff with a fork once done.

  2. 6

    Prepare Hummus (if using)

If using hummus, ensure it's ready to serve. You can use store-bought or homemade.

Assemble and Serve

  1. 7

    Plate the Dish

On a plate, place a generous serving of cooked rice or a scoop of hummus. Top with the cooked beef shawarma.

  2. 8

    Garnish

Top with chopped parsley, sliced cucumbers, sliced tomatoes, and drizzle with tahini sauce.

  3. 9

    Serve with Bread

Serve warm with pita or flatbread on the side.
