Sushi Ingredients

Method

Preparation Steps

  1. 1

    Cook the Sushi Rice

Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Cook the rice according to package instructions, typically using a rice cooker or on the stovetop with a 1:1 ratio of rice to water. Once cooked, let it cool slightly before seasoning.

  2. 2

    Season the Rice

In a small bowl, mix rice vinegar, sugar, and salt until dissolved. Fold this mixture into the warm rice gently, and let it cool to room temperature.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Fillings

Thinly slice the raw tuna and salmon into strips. Julienne the cucumber and slice the avocado into thin pieces.

  4. 4

    Prepare the Sushi Mat

Lay a bamboo sushi mat on a flat surface and place a sheet of nori, shiny side down, on top of the mat.

  5. 5

    Assemble the Roll

Wet your hands to prevent sticking and take a handful of sushi rice. Spread it evenly over the nori sheet, leaving about an inch at the top edge. Layer the tuna, salmon, cucumber, and avocado in the center of the rice.

  6. 6

    Roll the Sushi

Using the sushi mat, begin to roll the nori away from you, tucking in the filling as you go. Squeeze gently to keep it tight. Once rolled, use a sharp knife to cut the roll into 6-8 pieces.

  7. 7

    Prepare the Spicy Sauce

In a small bowl, mix together Sriracha sauce and mayonnaise to create a spicy mayo.

  8. 8

    Garnish and Serve

Drizzle the spicy mayo over the cut rolls and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Serve with soy sauce and wasabi on the side.
