Marinated Tofu Ingredients
Method
Cooking Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Marinade
In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, maple syrup, grated ginger, minced garlic, and rice vinegar. This will be your marinade.
- 2
Marinate the Tofu
Press the firm tofu to remove excess moisture, then cut it into bite-sized cubes. Place the tofu in the marinade and let it sit for at least 30 minutes, or ideally overnight in the refrigerator.
- 3
Coat the Tofu
Remove the tofu from the marinade (reserve the marinade) and toss it in cornstarch to coat each piece evenly.
- 4
Deep Fry the Tofu
In a large pan, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Carefully add the coated tofu and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- 5
Prepare the Sauce
In a separate pan, add the reserved marinade and bring it to a simmer over medium heat. Allow it to thicken slightly for about 3-4 minutes.
- 6
Toss the Tofu
Add the fried tofu to the sauce and toss to coat the tofu evenly in the ginger sauce.
- 7
Serve
Serve the marinated tofu over cooked rice and slaw. Drizzle with additional spicy sauce if desired.
