Toppings
Method
Preparing Tortilla Chips
- 1
Cutting the Tortillas
Cut each corn tortilla into 6 equal wedges to create chips.
- 2
Frying the Chips
In a large pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, carefully add a few tortilla wedges at a time, frying until they turn golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- 3
Seasoning the Chips
While the chips are still warm, sprinkle them with salt to taste for flavor.
Assembling the Nachos
- 4
Layering the Ingredients
On a large baking sheet or oven-safe platter, layer half of the fried tortilla chips evenly across the surface.
- 5
Adding Toppings
Sprinkle half of the shredded cheddar cheese over the chips, followed by half of the jalapeños, black olives, and diced tomatoes.
- 6
Repeating Layers
Add another layer of the remaining tortilla chips, followed by the rest of the cheese, jalapeños, black olives, and diced tomatoes.
- 7
Baking the Nachos
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the assembled nachos in the oven and bake for about 10 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbling.
Serving the Nachos
- 8
Garnishing and Serving
Remove the nachos from the oven and let them cool for a minute. Top with dollops of sour cream, guacamole, and sprinkle chopped green onions over the top. Serve immediately.
